This is so you don't wind up as part of a murder suicide, or, if you do, that it doesn't look so bad after you are dead:
1. Stay away from the young ones
Big age gaps all look pathetic in scandals. It's one thing when you are with this young thing and staring across the table at her unwrinkled, completely naive face, and another when it's baldly set out in numbers on court papers or in the newspaper. 20 and 36 look a lot further apart than a mere 16 years.
2. Make them leave you, do not dump them
It's your life that will be destroyed. The minute you decide to have an affair with an unmarried woman, she has the upper hand. At least if you do it with another married person there is the likelihood that they won't be able to make trouble without causing some for themselves. Young chicks will happily dump and older man for any number of reasons, that's one of the benefits of relationships with them. They get turned off and scared away easily. Just start farting a lot or growing out your back-hair.
3. If you have to dump them...
Tell your wife first and do the dumping by phone or email. It's not classy but it's safer. Scenes might be made, guns might be bought, it's best to just assume that there will be a stalking and act preemptively.
4. Find one that does not like guns
This does not mean that she won't learn to like them after relations with you go south, but it lessens the probability that she will know how to use them.

Hormones and a complete distance from reality make everybody around them, but especially men, at risk of having something bad happen. They are all drama queens.
